About

Jane is a born businesswoman with an incredible work ethic.

She grew up working in the fields in Mount Vernon, Washington, picking strawberries, spinach, cucumbers and has held a job ever since. Always the entrepreneur, she started a paper route when she was 10 years old. It seemed natural that she would pursue a degree in business when she went to college, but instead, she decided to be a nursing student at the University of Washington. She quickly changed her mind about this profession after she took a class in microbiology. Lucky for us!

Jane, a shareholder, specializes in providing tax services to private foundations and public charities. Her primary focus is on minimizing exposure to excise and unrelated business income tax, charitable giving strategies and communicating with the IRS.

Practice Emphasis

  • Federal and state income tax planning
  • Understanding and avoiding unrelated business income
  • Estate planning and administration
  • Special emphasis on tax and estate planning for high net worth individuals and families having a beneficiary with disabilities
  • IRS controversy work

Proven Results

  • Conducted research and planning to assist in making a determination that a supplemental needs trust established by the state of Washington for children with disabilities was not taxable to the trust or the children. Determination saved thousands of dollars in taxes that could be better spent improving the lives of the children.
  • Authored “A Guide to Estate Planning for Parents of Children with Disabilities” to help parents organize their estate planning information so as to use their own time and that of their attorney’s more wisely.
